The Song Inside | One Voice Children’s Choir Original

A song about finally looking in the mirror — and loving who’s staring back.

We wrote “The Song Inside” because we know what it feels like to hold something in. A feeling. A fear. A part of ourselves we were scared to show. Then, finally, we found the courage to let it out.

This song is about that moment. It’s about stepping out from behind the noise. And it’s about choosing to be heard instead.

A Song About Finding the Courage to Be Heard

“I was lost but now I’m found. And my voice above this crowd is gonna rise.”

“The Song Inside” has always been about that quiet space between staying silent and finally speaking up. It’s about the armor we build to protect ourselves. And it’s about what happens when we finally set that armor down.

For the members of our choir who helped write this song, it felt deeply personal.

As young people, they know what it’s like to feel unheard. They know what it’s like to feel like their voice doesn’t matter. But eventually, they learned it always did.

So this song became a way to say something simple but powerful:

  • ✨ Staying quiet doesn’t mean you don’t have something worth saying
  • ✨ Finding your voice starts with looking in the mirror and accepting who’s there
  • ✨ Being heard is a choice, not something you wait for permission to do

When we sing “the world will hear the song inside,” it becomes more than a lyric. It becomes a promise.

Why This Song Still Matters

We live in a world that often rewards blending in. “The Song Inside” offers something different: permission to be loud, to take up space, and to stop apologizing for being seen.

This song reminds us that:

  • Being quiet for a long time doesn’t mean you don’t have something to say
  • The parts of yourself you’ve hidden are often the parts most worth sharing
  • Finding your voice isn’t about being the loudest in the room — it’s about being honest in it

Through music, this song creates space for courage and self-acceptance. It’s something every generation needs to remember.

A Message That Connects Us

Making this music video wasn’t just about creating a beautiful performance. It was about creating a moment of permission.

Permission to be quiet no longer. Permission to look in the mirror. Permission to let your voice rise.

For our choir, this song is a reminder that everyone has a song inside them. Some of us just take longer to let it out.

So our hope is simple: when you watch, we hope you feel a little braver about letting yours out too.

What’s one thing you’re learning to stop hiding and start embracing? We’d love to hear your story. Share it with us in the comments on YouTube or Instagram.

🎶 The Song Inside — Lyrics

Hey, can you hear me? It’s me over here. Been stuck in a corner, wearing this armor, covering my ears But I finally found myself and I’m not like no one else Time to look into the glass and be sincere

I couldn’t hear the music, I didn’t hear the words But melody inside me was dying to be heard Always quiet but now loud, I was lost but now I’m found And my voice above this crowd is gonna rise And the world will hear the song inside

So now that I’m ready, world will you hear? I’m breaking the pattern, finding what matters, facing my fears ‘Cause there’s mountains that I’ve climbed, and there’s storms that I survived All the walls I’ve hid behind have disappeared

I couldn’t hear the music, I didn’t have the words But melody inside of me was dying to be heard Always quiet, now I’m loud, I was lost but now I’m found And my voice above this crowd is gonna rise And the world will hear the song inside

Now I’m looking in the mirror And I love who’s staring back at me I’m no longer staying quiet Just one question left to ask

Can you hear the music? Can you hear the words? The melody inside us is dying to be heard Always quiet, now we’re loud, we were lost, but we are found And a voice above this crowd is gonna rise And the world will hear the song inside
