When tragedy strikes, we turn to the power of music to find hope and healing.
In this special performance, One Voice Children’s Choir presents a heartfelt cover of “Smile,” originally composed by Charlie Chaplin and later made famous by Nat King Cole.
This arrangement was created in honor of those affected by the Maui fires, offering comfort and peace through one of the most timeless messages in music — that even in sorrow, a simple smile can bring light to the darkest days.
A Universal Message
“Smile” has carried a message of resilience for generations. Its lyrics — “Smile, though your heart is aching… you’ll find that life is still worthwhile, if you just smile” — remind us that kindness and hope can endure even in hardship.
Through their pure harmonies and heartfelt expression, the children of OVCC bring new meaning to this classic, showing how music can unite us in compassion and strength.
For Maui and Beyond
The choir’s performance of “Smile” is dedicated to all those rebuilding, grieving, and healing after the wildfires in Maui.
Music has the power to comfort, to connect, and to give voice to empathy — and that’s what this performance is meant to share.
